"HIP-HOP VERSUS WAR" 4th Annual Hip Hop Festival Against War & Occupation SEPTEMBER 20-21 2008

In a world defined by war and occupation, artists from Harlem to Havana have used hip-hop to voice their opposition to injustice, and to give life to their ideas for a better world. In words, in paint, on vinyl and through dance – oppressed people have come together to create a diverse culture of protest and expression.

MAWO’s Annual Anti-War Hip-Hop Festival was created in an effort to bring people together, both locally and internationally, to explore hip-hop as an important tool in the fight against war and occupation.

To date, our past 3 festivals have seen over 123 artists from places like Palestine, Guatemala, and Somalia grace the stages at our shows, and thousands of festival participants from all walks of life. With past shows in Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond, East and West Vancouver – it is the only festival of its kind across 7 continents.
